These items are a low value recyclable item and that is why many municipal recycling programs will not accept them.

Whenever there is an alternative, we should avoid using these items.

For recycling, they are compounded and pelletized, and remade into new, low grade plastic items.

Specifically:

• #3 Vinyl - made into various construction items like Landscaping Boards, Concrete Forms, Composite Wood Decking and Window Profiles.


• #6 Polystyrene - remade into Reels.


• #7 ABS - made into injection molded parts such as Arctic Flooring Mats for oil exploration, and Oyster Trays for farms.
